Munch community lunch
When Thame Town Council said it wanted to start a monthly community lunch and was looking for partners to make it happen, we thought that was a very urHome kind of project. We got ourselves food hygiene certified, and put out a request for volunteers, while the council revamped the kitchen in the Town Hall, and gave us the venue for free. The first Munch took place in February 2026.
While our volunteer rota runs on a 3 monthly basis, with qualified chefs leading each kitchen team, many people choose to help out every month because it’s a great way of supporting the community, and you get a lovely 2 course lunch!
We have a 5 star rating from Environmental Health, and we take account of food allergies and preferences, but it is absolutely essential to book ahead so we can cater for every need, and buy the right amount of food.
Along with the council’s help, we were awarded grant funding from OCVA (Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action) that allowed us to buy the extra kitchen kit required.
